A new member has arrived in our ever-increasing family zoo:
She is a small beauty of about 6 months. She has a thick brown fur and big brown eyes. She is agile and quick and they say she is quite smart, too. She's got only two toes but therefore she's also got two cute little horns. Wikipedia says she is curious and she eats pretty much everything vegetable including anything that looks or tastes like it...
Yep, we've got a small and cute goatling on our compound! She's also pretty excited about this - first thing she does is to pee in my boot. I'm not quite sure if the dogs will fancy her for supper, and I think that's what she also thinks. She baas bravely and keeps still for a moment while she's been sniffed at by three wet dog-noses. Then she dashes off and right behind her all three dogs of course. Lot's of yelling, running, shouting, barking, baas, commands, chasing and all of a sudden she's down on the floor sitting with her legs crossed, as if she's saying: "Here I am - eat me or leave me, I don't care".
More sniffing, rubbing and licking and the top dog loses interest ("oh, it's really just a goat"). While the youngest dog still tries to convince her that brawling and snapping is great fun, it is our loser dog who thinks that his hour of glory has finally come, and I see myself required to teach him a quick lesson on the difference of dogs, goats, bees, etc.
Finally, the boys lose interest and she's roaming around freely, exploring the terrain and tasting some grass here, a little bit of bush there, nibbling on a tree and having a glimpse through the door into the inside of the house.
This night she'll still spend in the chicken enclosure, but tomorrow she's off to her first assignment: mowing the lower lawn on our compound :-)
But... she's still without a proper name! So please: any suggestions? Famous goats? Any retaliation upon somebody by giving his/her name to a goat :-> ? Anything goes...
