To teach the value of money is pedagogically very important and one of the key lessons to be learned by a child. Adrian has just made his first try at it.
Recently, he has been nagging us about KINDER EGGs every day. So now I was trying to teach him a lesson: During summer holiday he had received some 20,000 Uganda Shilling (€ 7) from someone, but since it was just a silly looking piece of paper that the parents usually argue about, we stuffed it into one of his boxes and forgot about it. So I told him: "Hey didn't you get some money lately? Now, you know, this is YOUR money and you can spend it on whatever you want. So, why don't you buy yourself some of those Kinder-Eggs!? Or you can save it for blablabla...." - "Really? How many Kinder-Eggs do I get for 20,000 Shillings? Get me as many as that money can buy!"
So today, I find myself buying 5 Kinder-Eggs on the way home from office... And my wise boy...
...is of course handling his new fortune with poised calmness ;-) Unfortunately, also Leona's contribution is educationally anything but beneficial. Hence, all five eggs are finished right before dinner and within 15 minutes. After having finished the last egg, he already has the bright idea that tomorrow I could buy the next batch of eggs from my money, since his has gone now... *sigh, next time more luck*
